Privacy Policy

The Nail Files ("the app," "we," "us") is developed by CMG Developments. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your rights regarding it.

What we collect

Without an account (default for all users)

Photos you upload (hand photos, inspiration photos, cut nail designs) and your saved designs and folders are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to, or stored on, our servers unless you choose to sign in.
If you contact us by email, we will see your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry.

If you choose to sign in (optional, available to all users)

Signing in is entirely optional and is never required to use the app. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we collect:

A unique account identifier and, depending on your sharing preferences with Apple/Google, your email address.
Your saved designs, cut nail images, and folders, securely stored in our cloud database (Firebase, provided by Google) so they can be restored if you switch devices or reinstall the app. This data is private to your account.

You can sign in or out at any time from Settings, and signing out does not delete your data from our records.

Third-party services

The app uses a small number of third-party services, which may collect information independently under their own privacy policies:

Firebase (Google) — if you sign in, your account data and saved designs are stored using Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Firebase Storage. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob (free version only) — displays advertising and may collect device identifiers for ad delivery and measurement. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy; manage ad personalisation via your device settings.
Apple App Store / Google Play (subscriptions) — payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not see or store your card details, only your subscription status.
Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In — Apple or Google process your authentication under their own privacy policies. We only receive the account identifier (and email, if shared) needed to identify your account.

Data retention

If you do not sign in, data stored on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app.
If you sign in, your cloud-stored data remains until you delete it in the app or contact us to request deletion.
Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under data protection law regarding any personal data we hold about you. This includes the right to request a copy of it or ask us to delete it. Contact us at the email below to do so.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the app changes. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
